Geneva Motor Show

11th March 2016

With the Geneva Motor Show drawing to a close we pick out our favourite cars and significant moments from this year's show.

The New King of Hypercars

First off, the much anticipated successor to the Bugatti Veyron was finally unveiled: the Bugatti Chiron. Boasting an impressive 1,479bhp, the Chiron can reach 62mph in under 2.5 seconds and its maximum speed is capped at 261mph.

The Chiron comes in 8 different styles from gold and silver to the classic Bugatti blue. At a meagre £1.9m this car could be yours. But you will need to be quick, as only 500 are being made, so snap yours up soon!

BMW's Concept

The Geneva Motor Show is one of the premier events for manufacturers to showcase their vision of the future of driving. There were many concept cars present and this year there was an emphasis on 2 particular features: driverless cars and large touch pad controls inside driverless cars. My personal favourite concept car was the BMW Next Vision 100.

The BMW also has self-driving capabilities and a smart AI system, but it is the shape-shifting design over the wheels which makes this car stand out from the rest of the crowd. Don't take my word for it, watch this:

007's New Toy

Although the identity of the next James Bond is yet to be decided, we almost certainly know what car he will be driving. The new Aston Martin DB11 was revealed, with the creators calling this 'the most significant new Aston Martin since the introduction of the DB9 in 2003', and as you would expect it is the definition of beauty.

VW Pranked

Volkwagen put up a modest presentation, unsurprisingly so, given the emissions scandal that erupted last year. They clearly wanted to keep a relatively low profile but it is not what they got. VW could not avoid the notorious public prankster Simon Brodkin a.k.a. Lee Nelson a.k.a. Jason Bent from disrupting an otherwise humble presentation.
